Dr Alex Ioannidis is a highly experienced Cataract and Anterior Segment specialist.
Alex graduated from the University of London in 1997 and
trained at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where he
completed his Registrar training.
Alex has developed expertise in the management of Complex Cataracts in the setting of other diseases of the Anterior Segment. He is able to offer his patients both Conventional and Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS).
For his cataract patients, he offers the latest in intraocular lens technology,
including Premium intra-ocular lenses such as Toric, EDOF and Multifocal Intraocular Lenses (MFIOL) for the correction of astigmatism and age-related long-sightedness (Presbyopia).
In view of the wide range of IOL options available, Alex is always happy to give a recommendation about IOL implants taking into consideration the individual eye health, hobbies and work interests.
With expertise in corneal disorders, Alex performs collagen cross-linking to
treat keratoconus, micrograft sutureless pterygium surgery, and also manages ocular surface diseases such as Dry Eye and Surface Neoplasia.
Alex has published and presented extensively with over 50 publications and
presentations in National and International Conferences over the years.
In addition to his private work Alex works as Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he is involved in the teaching and supervision of Medical Students and Ophthalmic Registrars on the Training Rotation in Victoria.
Alex has been involved over years in mentoring and supporting other
ophthalmologists in Australia in the field of complex cataract surgery through regular local and interstate seminar and various teaching opportunities.
