About my appointment
Please make your way to reception where you will be required to fill out a Patient Registration form and confirm your Medicare details or Pension Card Details with Reception staff. Please ensure the Clinic has a valid referral before the day of your appointment. You will not be able to obtain a Specialist Medicare Rebate without a referral. Your referral contains information that is important for your specialist to see.
Before you see the Specialist, you will have some preliminary tests done by an Orthoptist. To get the best understanding of your eye you will need to have eye drops. Some eyedrops dilate your pupils and blur your vision. They may take 20 minutes to work. The effect on your eyesight may last a few hours and alter your ability to drive. You should have someone with you on the day of your appointment. The technician may ask you about your medical history. After you have had these tests done with the technician you will be seen by the Ophthalmologist.
Please allow around two hours for your first appointment. This is because if you need treatment on the day of your consultation, the Doctor might advise this is done on the same day. Retina Specialists often deal with eye emergencies and on occasion you might be required to wait for longer than expected.around
Mornington Specialist Eye Clinic is not a Bulk Billing Clinic and you will receive an invoice for your consultation, tests and treatment. There is normally a fee for your consultation with the Doctor and scans, tests and treatments are charged in addition to this However, elements of your treatment may attract a Medicare rebate and this will be credited directly to you. We require accounts to be settled on the day of your outpatient consultation and two weeks before any in-patient procedure. Please call the clinic before your appointment to ensure you are well-informed of the cost of standard appointment prior to attending. Payment can be made by credit card/EFTPOS. A surcharge is payable on credit card payments.
When you have had drops put in your eyes to dilate your pupils your eyes will become blurry for a period of time and you cannot drive a vehicle. We always recommend that you have a friend or relative pick you up from your appointment or make alternative travel arrangements.
We have ten parking spaces at the rear of the clinic and there is ample free parking at the front of the clinic.
A ramp is available for entry into the clinic from the car park. We also have a disabled toilet on-site and a wheelchair can be provided if necessary.
